God does not forgive
Basic Information // D'Arc, Jeanne
Full Name: Joan of Arc
Alias: La Pucelle d'Orléans; The Maiden of Orléans
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Personality //
God does not forgive
Or rather... she does not forgive (nowadays). Jeanne is a person who strongly believes in her own convictions, stubbornly so, and following her Ideals, no matter what other people say. This unfortunately also means that she does not show much indication of listening to other people, despite them warning them about her shortcomings. Dark Jeanne as to speak is even more stubborn and does not listen to anyone at all. Quite on the contrary she thinks that it is her responsibility to shape other people to her liking and forces her opinion on Others. She is regarded as a Saint and often acted like one in the past, trying to avoid killing whenever possible, despite waging War against an entire Nation.
Of course this could also be seen in a different light: that she just left the dirty hand to her followers, but her intentions were still pure. Nevertheless, she does not show any concerns for human life after summoned in this War, and especially sinners, no matter how little the sin deserve a grave punishment in her eyes. Although she would not stoop as low as taking the souls of human beings for herself, Jeanne has no problems, rather seeing it as her duty, to kill those dirty lost sheeps who have fallen past her own moral Standards, and there lies a bit of a Chaotic Mindset, because her Codex does not rely on the regular law.
While Murder is a great sin, it is justified under some conditions, like needing food for the own survival, and the other person lacking the attributes to see it in themselves to give what they don't need. Her distorted view of the World often makes her harsh and cruel, as well as agressive, but she still knows better than to blindly head into combat or destroy anything just for the sake of letting off some steam. Nevertheless this inner rage feeling that people just don't live up to god's teachings is difficult to contain and the female knight often acts more dauntless than reserved.
In combat cruel and merciless, the Maiden of Orleans would rather attempt to make an enemy repent for their sins through cruel torture, before finishing them off swiftly, and this goes for servants and masters alike, albeit the former clearly too powerful for this sort of treatment by the young female servant. She bends the rules as she sees fit.
Rules that once had been accepted by her are less likely to be broken because she simply has accepted them as hers, but she does not follow the rules of others, just because she may be their ally at the moment. She also finds negative aspects in other people easier than herself and hates getting betrayed to a degree where she turns into a paranoid, wrath thirsty Woman of Destruction. It brings the ugliest aspects of her soul to the surface and she does exactly use the very strategies, she had condemned in the others before, like backstabbing and lying.
She will definitely be shocked of herself after waking up from this terrible nightmare that her summoning brought upon her.
Characteristics //
- Height: 159 cm
- Weight: 44 kg
- Hair Color: Blonde
- Eye Color: Blue
- Extra Info:
Jeanne is a young appearing girl of small stature. Although she is strong enough to wield a sword, she preferred smaller arms, and definitely lacks the muscles for heavy axes or hammers, but she has a good muscle line and strong abdominal muscles to keep something as big and heavy as a banner high in the air while riding into combat to the front lines and still defending herself properly. More a physical shape for agile and swift maneuvers than encounters based on sheer strength, she is also fairly light, weighting 44 kg.
None of the long and harsh combats have left any impurity or scars on her body or face and she still managed to stay true to her age, of young 16. She is slim and although some remnants of a child can still be seen in her facial features, Jeanne has already grown into a young woman with large, deep blue eyes and a friendly smile forming on her small lips whenever she feels good with her company. The hair is overall long and blonde. The forehead is completely covered by fringes , and the sides kept a bit longer, at middle length, while getting slightly spiky and wild towards the tips, standing up, despite otherwise resembling a bob cut. The backside of her hair is long and straight, albeit Jeanne usually keeping it in a dutch braid.
The French knight also wears a headgear for protection, and her throat is also properly covered by a neck collar. Although Jeanne otherwise wears a single piece of violet cloth, that is only parted at the legs to provide more mobility, she also has according protective gear. The stomach area and her hips are covered by armor, as well as her entire arms and hands are protected by gauntlets. Finally the outfit is completed by shin protectors, which are not exactly too capable of covering all of the shin, rather than a couple of centimeters above the foot, and a small black fabric is laid out over her shoulders. It is also not uncommon for her to wear a cape to fit the image of a Holy Knight.
History //
- Beginnings Joan was born around 1412, as the daughter of Jacques and Isabelle d'Arc in Domremy. Her father was an official and they lived not exactly as one of the riches but could call some land their own. Although they were fairly far away from the main authorities of French, they still remained loyal to the crown and had to fend off attackers from the nearby Burgundian Lands, and once also had to witness the scenery of her village burning as a result of one of those fierce attacks, which had an encarving lasting effect on her perception of War.
With 12 she had her very first vision and thought that she had a direct connection to god. Perplexed and stunned by the beauty of St. Michael, Margaret and Catherine who told her to drive out the English and help Dauphin to get coronated, she could not forget about them and already in early years had set some distinct goals. Joan began to train hard in order to defend herself and her country and did not desire anything more than being able to fight. After reaching 16 years of age, she deemed herself ready and asked Durand Lassois to petition for her to the garrison commander to gain permission for a visit to Chinon, to the French Royal Court.
But her request was immediately rejected, only serving as a source for the commander's amusement. Nevertheless, Joan was not disheartened by this and continued her efforts. Soon thereafter, gaining additional support by men with power, she returned and made predictions about the enemy attacks to gain victory in an otherwise lost situation. After the confirmation came in, she was finally granted an escort to visit Chinon and began a long and dangerous journey through enemy territory in disguise. - The Knight Her abilities managed to impress Charles VII, and raise her reputation among the people of the court. Although she was not taken in as a warrior, she gained the right to participate in a financial relief expedition and wear the equipment of a knight. Although she had no wealth or riches, she soon managed to get every part of the necessary equipment together. Seen as a symbol of hope and trusting in her abilities, Joan received great support and every item was presented to her.
One of those gifts was the sword Fierbois, she had seen in a vision, hidden in the Church of St. Martel, a sword of tremendous religious value and a holy weapon with a power seen in Legends of Charlesmagne and his Holy Paladins. Shortly after arriving, the knights lead by La Pucelle, as Joan was called, turned the tables, fueled by religious zealous and undwindling faith, they marched into combat and prevailed. But while the people made her into a real heroine and there was likely none who trusted her more than the knights under her banner, advisers of the Royal Court began to grow increasingly worried about the truth of Joan's claims of hearing god.
They feared that she might actually serve the devil or that enemies to the throne might twist the truth to turn her into the devil's advocate and thus revoking Charle's claims to the throne. And so she was tested and her background checked. The revealed information was in her favor, and this would have been enough for the King, but even if they had not found her guilty of witchcraft they still desired another test. - The Rise
She had to prove her claims during a siege of Orleans, but the head did not include her in the tactical planning, nor informed her about battles, but she was still always present, knowing about them by herself. Her leadership raised the morals and also lead to an improval of the situation at hand. Before her joining of the Conflict, they had only remained behind their protective walls, not daring to make any attacks on the enemy formations.
In only a couple of days she attacked and captured the nearby English fortresses, despite a lack of support from Jean d'Orleans. They just did not wish to attack, and closed the Gates. Yet Joan summoned soldiers by herself and could count on one fellow Captain to take another fortress for France, meanwhile the War Council had decided to wait for reinforcements, in her abscence.
Stubbornly as she was, she lead an attack on another fortress and won, albeit being wounded in the neck by an arrow in the process. The Victory lead to many plans about further offensive actions and Joan became second in command of the Army with Duke John II and her bold plan of attacking structures deep in enemy territory were approved. They won battle upon battle, and Joan proved her toughness standing up against a hit of a stone cannonball to the head, and gaining the friendship and loyalty of her peers, including that of Duke of Alencon, whose life she saved during an enemy atillery attack.
One of the greatest Victories was against a reinforcement group lead by Sir John Fastolf at the battle of Patay, in which the French vanguard attacked the enemy Archers before they could complete their preparations and then proceeded into taking down the core unit, killing or capturing most of the enemy commanders while suffering minimal losses. The French Army easily recaptured towns and others just capitulated after hearing about the army's achievements.
Not long after that, the French army marched near Paris during the interim and accepted more peaceful surrenders, and also an attempted counter by the Duke of Bedford could not stand up against Joan and her forces, even if she was wounded by an arrow in the process. Despite her wound she stayed on the front lines and lead her troops to victory, until she was ordered to withdraw. However, the next attack on Saint Pierre le Moutier granted her Nobility, Dame Joan D'Arc was officially a noble. - The Fall and Execution
But the streak ended relatively after her new title. Another City was under Siege and she came to support them against English and Burgunds. Overwhelmed by the number of the enemy attack force, she ordered her troops to retreat and remained in the rear to provide her troops with a save escape. Although unhorsed and not surrendering, she could not keep her efforts up and was eventually captured by the enemy. Not having a family with money, there was nobody to buy her free, and the King did not intervene for the Dame who had played a major role in his coronation.
Despite having been forsaken by the Court, she was not willing to give up and attempted to escape, but unfortunately never managed a successful one. Finally she was put before a trial for heresy by the rival of the current King, because it was Joan who was notably a driving factor for his rise to the throne. Although the people were not qualified to perform a trial nor did they have enough evidence to initiate one, they did so anyway.
Not given a lawyer and originally stemming from a peasant family, Joan still defended herself well, and turning church doctrines around in her favour. Despite strongly believing in herself and in god it was not the same as to automatically believe to stand in God's grace and in the eyes of the Church denying it outright would make her guilty, while proclaiming it to be the case would lead to heresy. But she was in the end still chosen to be guilty, records altered, laws not correctly applied, and burned at the Stake for Heresy. Years later she was found to be guilty by the Inquisition during a re-examination of her case and given the Status of a Saint.
Masteries //
- Mana: B+ - She has more than enough prana to use her NP effectively as a Saber. Joan has slightly more mana available than she had as her regular form as a Saber.
- Unarmed Combat: D - Saber has fought many battles during her career and although not unarmed it comes to some extent when training. She has as a Servant no issues to take down an ordinary human being, but her abilities are quite useless against enemy Servants.
- Armed Combat: A - Joan is a Saber and has received training in many forms of combat, but specializes in Spear like weapons and the sword. She can use it more than well enough to defend herself, and taking care of people without killing them, even when they fight in superior numbers. Nonetheless, she can and will also apply deadly force if the time calls for it. This seems to have increased after corruption.
- Stamina: B - Her armor provides a good amount of Protection against enemy attacks and one Individual who stands up for their goals no matter the circumstances is driven by an Iron Will, that will not make her fall easily. Joan is capable of going on even when a limb might have ceased to function. She has also proven to last through longer lasting Battles and joining her Knights on the Front.
- Agility: A - Joan might not be the strongest person, although her attack output is as a Saber quite high, but she is very swift and nimble, able to avoid attacks from enemies, even if surrounded and not fall under the furious attacks of Veterans. Nevertheless, her Agility mostly stems from the ability to evade or short dashes, and is none to exceed in terms of overall running speed.

Specialized Info //
Servant Class: Saber
Hero Type: Reverse Heroine
Class Skill(s):
~~Riding~~
Rank: C
DescriptionShe can drive basically everything in the modern world and ride most creatures above average skill. Saber is unable to ride anything Demonic or Holy, though.
~~Magic Resistance~~
Rank: B
DescriptionStrong faith and a magical weapon protecting its wielder against magical attacks form a high Resistance against magic, even in a time of decline. Summoned as a Dark Heroine her Resistance has fallen back to B. Although it cannot protect against High Thaumaturgy perfectly, she is still mostly unaffected by Modern "Magic".
Personal Skill(s):
~~Revelation~~
Rank: A
Description:Basically a form of Instinct, it helps to take the most suitable path, even without seeing. While quite useful in planning stages, and on the Battle Field, it does not aid as much against surprises as Instinct. It helped her during her campaign for France.
~~Charisma~~
Rank: D
Description: The effect to lead an Army into Battle or govern a country. While she does not have the Talents to reign over other people, her talent in leading an army exceeds that of a Commander or in several cases even a king. It allows her to apply Revelation to her comrades, while Revelation directly affects her Charisma, just like Saint to Raise to B. Due to being summoned as a Dark Hero her Talent to command does not fall short of previous days, but the people will soon see that the trust in her is not well chosen, the morale of supporters slightly dropping.
~~Saint~~
Rank: A++
Description: The Skill to be acknowledged as a Saint. This does not mean that she has to act like one or ever had to act like one, but she somehow manages to have people believe in it, which directly affects her Charisma. The strong believe in her empowers her and even in a setting without direct effect on her stats, enables the User a higher protection against Status Effects and better Recovery Rate.
~~Aegis of Faith~~
Rank: B
Description Granted to someone with strong religious view, and works in the form of a pseudo divine protection, even if it has nothing to do with Divine Spirits. Joan has always lived out her faith and lead people with it. If it is too high it might cause some Extreme Behavior, that she let out on prostitutes in the past. Summoned as a Dark Servant, it dropped down to B. She still has her belief, but lacks the Understanding of before, as well as the love for people to protect and thinks more about herself.
~~Soul of Martyr~~
Rank: B
Description: Joan always stood in for her own interpretation of her faith and was not willing to renounce it even while being sentenced to death and burnt on the stake for it. It grants the owner a protection against mental interferences, similar to Bravery. Even summoned as a Dark Servant she stays true to that. She might not hold belief in the very same as before, but the strength of her faith remains unwavering.
Noble Phantasms //
Name: La Pucelle - Gonfalonier of Despair
Rank: C
Type: Support
Activation Command: Noble Phantasm activates by calling out its name as by Standard. Here: "La Pucelle".
Description:Jeanne was known as La Pucelle and riding into battle with her trusted Standarte, that she actually preferred over her sword. Although claiming in some texts that she had never killed anyone, this cannot be proven and it also did not mean that she never used a sword. Quite on the opposite she obtained a couple during her relatively shortlived career and defended herself well with it, but the banner remained dominant in her favor. It gave the people hope and made them believe in a positive outcome of their struggles. The dreams and hopes of an entire Nation were resting on Jeanne's shoulders and this Noble Phantasm is the realization of that. Unfortunately where there is hope there is also despair, and after corruption the Banner does the exact opposite. Instead of helping allies it accumulates all the dark feelings and despair, as well as resignation of the people and unleashes it in a medium range radius on the battle field.
The result is that all affected targets will fight their inner fears and will feel all hope drained from them. Str, and Agi will drop alongside their will to actively engage the enemy, furthermore the regular rules of intimidation and fear apply. Characters with skills like Bravery on B or above can completely ignore the later part though. Otherwise the skill lasts as long as the Banner is on the field or they overcome their issue, which again depends on a combination of Magical Resistance and Inner Will Strength. Nevertheless it is a Noble Phantasm ranked attack and has a negative Status Effect for at least 10 minutes.
Name: Fierbois - Blazing Fury
Rank: A
Type: Anti-Army
Activation Command: Fierbois
Description: Charles Martel, forefather of Charlesmagne was said to have build the Church where Fierbois was stored and some assume that he was the one who placed it there to Rest. Jeanne knew about its existance and proclaimed that she had heard about it from God. If there was really a divine presence behind everything, or the will of mankind itself had guided her might remain a mystery, but she was drawn to this Holy Sword, a weapon of great strength and protection abilities. Upon activation she will be engulved in flames which can burn her surroundings and briefly thereafter is unleashed like a blazing firewall at the enemy.
Name: Fierbois - Protection of the Cross
Rank: C
Type: Support
Activation Command: None
Description: Fierbois grants its wielder protection and is always active once resting in the hands. It increases the magical resistance significantly (albeit embedded in Mag Res stat.), and reflects magical spells at the same Rank of the NP or below back to the Caster. Furthermore does it increase the defense against all kinds of distance attacks, like arrows.
